A Peek Inside This Old Bag

Categories: Charity Events,Fashion,Hot News

The summer set ascended to the newly refurbished Ben Swig Penthouse of the Fairmont Hotel to inaugurate festivities for “This Old Bag: The Power of the Purse” benefit for the Breast Cancer Emergency Fund. The event on Friday, October 21 at the St. Regis Hotel invites bids on new and gently carried handbags, purses, satchels, totes, and clutches donated by celebrities, local luminaries and retailers. Funds from the event assist low-income, often uninsured breast cancer patients with utility bills, financial deterioration, medical needs and housing. The event was conceived by the late Bella Farrow, who was fondly remembered saying, “I can’t run, walk, climb, or row to raise money for breast cancer patients, but Honey, I sure can shop!” This  years’ event chairs, Elizabeth Theriot and Hilary Newsom Callan, both worked with Bella to ensure that the event would continue with its same cheeky and cheerful style for which she was fondly remembered that evening. Covetable caches from Ferragamo, Dior, and Bottega Veneta were on display, just a fraction of the finery which will be featured at the main event.

Perusing the purse: Neil Figurelli, Mary Walter, Susannah Dunlap, Beth Townsend, Ludmilla Kisseleva, Joel Goodrich, Marilyn and Michael Cabak, Mark Calvano, Bailey Locke, Veronica LaBeau, Elyssa Cahill Thorp, Alan Svenson, Diane Easterwood, and many more who will be bagging a new “Old Bag” come October.
